Concert Fellowship

The Concert Fellowship Program offers Juilliard students the opportunity to interact monthly with New York City public school students and teachers. Fourth grade students from our two Manhattan-based partnership schools - P.S. 166 and P.S. 11 - come to Juilliard to attend five chamber music concerts. These concerts, performed by Juilliard students, feature the instrument families of the orchestra. The students are prepared at their own schools, both before and after the concert, by the Concert Fellows, who function in the role of teaching artists. Juilliard students are required to take one semester of coursework (Insights Into Learning or Arts in Education). At the start of the school year each classroom teacher receives a teaching activity packet, which enables him or her to infuse the arts into the regular classroom. All school children in the program receive a concert workbook/student journal.
