as a flutist and music education specialist. Has performed with numerous
orchestras including the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Chinese Music Ensemble,
and Dance Theater of Harlem, as well as on western and Chinese flutes
in the Broadway show Miss Saigon. Currently the education director for
the Queens Symphony and music consultant and teacher for Midori & Friends. Has worked for the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Music
Center, and the Kennedy Center Education departments. MAP faculty since

B.M., M.M., The Juilliard School. Currently performs with the Met Opera
Orchestra, the Brooklyn and Long Island Philharmonics, Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra, Manhattan Brass Quintet, Concordia Orchestra, and with contemporary
music ensembles including Sospeso and Speculum Musicae. Can be heard
on recordings with the New York Philharmonic, on numerous commercial
and movie soundtracks, and with Prince on his New Power Soul recording.
A member of the New York Big Brass, Mr. du Maine has also performed
at many music festivals and on Broadway, in such shows as The Music

Born in Quebec and educated at the Montreal Conservatory, where she
received a degree in violin performance. Has performed at the White
House, CAMI Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall. Currently a
faculty member of the Westchester Conservatory and the School for Strings.

B.M., Oberlin College-Conservatory; M.M., Catholic University; Postgraduate Diploma, Manhattan School of Music. For 27 years, principal clarinet with Long Island Philharmonic. Former member, Atlanta Symphony. Has performed with the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, New Jersey Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and on Broadway. Author of five handbooks and two educational CDs for clarinetists which are in use at schools around the country. Faculty, N.Y.U., Vassar College, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division. ensemble performing an eclectic repertoire. Participant at Marlboro
Music Festival. Coach for the Young Musicians Program of the Chamber
Music Society of Lincoln Center. Special interest in Alexander Technique

Lubima Kalinkova-Shentov (Double Bass)

Solo recitals in France, Germany, Italy, Rumania, Bulgaria, as well as the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center and Paul and Morse Halls at Juilliard. Performed with numerous orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. Former principal double bassist of the Radio Chamber Orchestra, Sofia, Bulgaria, with several recorded solo works for double bass and chamber orchestra. Winner of several music awards from international double bass competitions. Presently a string orchestra instructor for Mount Vernon (NY) Public Schools. MAP faculty since 2002.

Jean Kopperud (Clarinet; Clarinet Ensemble) B.M., SUNY-Purchase; M.M., The Juilliard School. Former pupil of Nadia Boulanger. Has toured internationally as a concert soloist and chamber musician. National acclaim for her performances of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Harlekin for dancing clarinetist, which resulted in her Avery Fisher Hall debut, presented by the New York Philharmonic. of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the flutist and executive director
of the New York New Music Ensemble. Member of the Manchester Music Festival,
the Washington Square Contemporary Music Ensemble, the I.S.C.M. Players,
and Quicksilver. Has recorded for CRI, Columbia, GM Recordings, Centaur,

Bill Ruyle (Percussion/percussion ensemble)
Manhattan School of Music; North and South Indian Drumming. Has had
extensive performance appearances over the last quarter century playing
music for classical and contemporary theater and dance. Ensembles have
included Newband, Locrian Chamber Players, the Manhattan Marimba Quartet,
and Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Performer of educational programs with
the Lincoln Center Institute and Carnegie Hall’s Link Up! Adjunct

Major Andres Scurlock (Piano)
B.M., M.M., The Juilliard School; student of Jerome Lowenthal. Came
to Juilliard with only five years of piano training and was awarded
various scholarships toward his education; accepted into both the Juilliard
Teaching and Concert Fellowship programs, where he developed and cultivated
his love for arts administration. Assistant to the director of operations
at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. MAP faculty since 1994.
Debra Shufelt (Viola/String Ensemble)
B.M., M.M., M.S.M., The Juilliard School. Has appeared with the Brooklyn
Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, and American Composers Orchestra.
Has given master classes in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and
has worked with the Lincoln Center Institute, Nashville Institute for
the Arts, and the New York Philharmonic in presenting educational performances.

Scott Simpson (Percussion)

Symphony Orchestra and Les Misérables. Instructor of percussion
with the New Jersey Youth Symphony. Adjunct professor at William Paterson
University, St. Thomas Aquinas College, and Bergen Community College.

Terry Szor (Trumpet)
B.M., B.Ed, New England Conservatory. Currently a freelance musician
in the New York Metropolitan area, performing in concert halls, on Broadway,
in recording studios, and various venues. Formerly a member of the award-winning,
Saturday Brass Quintet. Performs with several chamber music groups and
has worked extensively in the New York public schools, mentoring hundreds
of young brass students. MAP faculty since 1997.

Composer who has been commissioned by Sequitur, Oregon Bach Festival, Bang on a Can Marathon, and American Opera Projects. Jeanne Wilson (Flute)
B.M. magna cum laude, U. of Massachusetts-Amherst; M.M., SUNY-Stony Brook. Piccoloist and flutist with the Hartford Symphony and solo piccoloist with the Goldman Memorial Band. Has also performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony, EOS Orchestra, New York Pops, New Haven Symphony, Naumberg Orchestra, Stamford Grand Opera, Jupiter Symphony, Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, and in several Broadway productions. Her woodwind quintet, Satori, made its New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall as winners of the Artists International Competition. Has toured with Philip Glass in the European production of his opera La Belle et la Bête. Currently on the faculties of New Jersey City University and the Horace Mann School. MAP faculty since 2003.
